Hygiene standards for Home Delivery or Takeout Services

The highest hygiene standards are critical in today’s environment. If you are providing your customers with one of the following services, it is important to provide full transparency and a well communicated cleanliness routine. It is critical to reassure your customers that you are providing the highest standards of preparation and hygiene possible.

WE RECOMMEND YOU COMMUNICATE THE FOLLOWING PRACTICES TO YOUR CUSTOMERS:

  • Offering a shisha/hookah bundle – your customer purchases a full ‘shisha/hookah at home’ kit comprising of a shisha/hookah device, charcoal, molasses and a cleaning kit.

  • Offering a home delivery service – delivering a returnable ‘shisha/hookah at home kit’ for a short period of time

  • Pick up and take away service - your customer orders a pre-prepared shisha/hookah product of their choice off the menu which is collected from your premises

IF YOU ARE DELIVERING AND SETTING UP SHISHA/HOOKAH AT A PRIVATE HOME WE RECOMMEND:

  • You deliver a well cleaned device with a disposable hose.

  • The hose is delivered in its original packaging so that the customer opens and attaches it themselves. While single use plastics are not desirable environmentally in the long term, we are in exceptional times. In general, we recommend silicone hoses which are easier to clean.

  • If you are setting up and preparing shisha/hookah for the customer, use latex gloves at all stages of the preparation.

  • If you are starting the shisha/hookah for the customer, prepare the coals but do not smoke the device to pre-heat the shisha/hookah. Instruct the customer how to do this.

  • Do not smoke the shisha/hookah at any time, whether to pre-heat, purge or manage the heat before or during the smoking session. Guide customers to heat or purge the shisha/hookah themselves.

  • Serve only one shisha/hookah per person as shisha/hookah sharing is not recommended at this time.

  • Prepare and hand out a shisha/hookah hygiene leaflet for your customer. Reference the Al Fakher shisha/hookah hygiene guide for home use.
